Elevating the Muslim Narrative.

Muslims in the Media: Why the Narrative Needs to Change!

In a world where stories shape perceptions and values, there is a pressing need for narratives that reflect the richness, depth, and diversity of the Muslim experience.

For years, the media has played a huge role in shaping how people see Muslims, and more often than not, the portrayal is negative. From films to news headlines, the mainstream narrative is fuelling fear and misunderstanding.

These biased portrayals contribute to rising Islamophobia around the world. Hate crimes against Muslims have increased, and many face discrimination daily because of the fear these narratives create. It’s time for change.

Muslims must tell their own stories through media, film, and journalism, highlighting the diversity, achievements, and positive contributions of the Ummah. This will help build bridges, foster understanding and be a means of da’wah.

If we want a fairer, more accurate representation of Muslims, we must challenge the narrative and take control of our own story.

Our Vision:“Elevate the Muslim Narrative”

Ertifa (إرتفاع) is an Arabic word meaning "to elevate," and it perfectly reflects our vision: to “Elevate the Muslim Narrative” - our mission is to uplift Muslim voices and share stories that inspire, inform, and connect people across the world.

At Ertifa, we aim to be a leading force in Muslim media, telling stories that contribute to a more just, connected, and understanding world. By breaking down barriers and challenging misconceptions, we seek to create media that resonates with a global audience.

Our dream for the Ummah is bigger than anything we can achieve alone. For over 17 years, we’ve supported hundreds of creatives, scholars, influencers, TV channels, Islamic institutes, da’wah initiatives, and charity organisations with media training, skills, and content. Through our efforts, we’ve helped raise over £15 million and reached more than 100 million views worldwide.
